English Language Certificates in the UK

Improving your English language skills is one of the best ways to get a step up in a world where English has become the lingua franca. English is the most commonly spoken second language globally, and people who speak English as an additional language far outnumber those who speak it as a native language.

When it comes to international business, English language skills are a must-have. If you’re interested in improving your English skills and passing exams like the TOEIC, you’re in luck because there is no shortage of English language courses out there! You only need to decide where you’ll study and find a great school in the area.

You can study English anywhere in the world but what better place than England? The country offers a plethora of learning opportunities for those who wish to study English abroad, especially in cities like Reading and London. Over 500,000 international students studied English in the UK in 2019, making it the most popular ELT destination to study English in the world.

There are a variety of English language courses available, so you won’t have any problem finding the perfect program. Whether you’re looking to improve your English skills before taking a TOEFL or TOEIC examination or in need of some credentials to enhance your employment opportunities, you’ll find the course that’s right for you in the UK.

How Long do English Courses Last?

English language courses can last anywhere from one week to a year. Most language schools offer a variety of course lengths, but if you plan to study at a university, you will likely enrol for the entire semester. The size of the course you choose will depend on your specific needs. Many students decide to study for a minimum of six months to have plenty of time to explore the community, make new friends, and immerse themselves in English culture. If you plan to study for less than six months, you can do so on a standard visit visa. You'll need a short-stay study visa for those who plan to study for more than six months and less than one year

Do Language Schools Provide Accommodation?

If you choose to study English through a university, you can find accommodation at the university residences. Some language centres offer accommodation, but many do not. Student housing can be a good choice for some, but others find that a homestay provides a more personal experience. Homestays offer students a warm welcome, and students can expect to be treated like family members. Host families are typically experts on the local attractions and can be an excellent resource for students travelling to the UK to study.

How to Get Started?

Now that you’re ready to start your learning journey begins by researching schools that offer the course you’re interested in. You’ll find the largest variety of English language courses and others around London and the Reading area. Once you’ve contacted the school and have decided on a program, apply for the proper visa online. After you’ve applied, you should receive your visa within three weeks and then you’re ready to book your flight and find a place to stay! Be sure to check out the homestay options available near your school.

Student Visas can only be issued for certain courses. If your course is eligible, your education provider (Student sponsor) will give you a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) which you use to apply for a student visa.
